Our impact

Our impact 2—long_edited.png

When we talk about our impact, we use the image of a fruiting tree, representing growth and vibrant life.

Though a tree can be planted and tended—and we have an important role in that—a tree has a life of its own. And this is what we believe about our impact, too. We are cultivators and it will have a life far beyond us. We are committed to working towards our vision and mission as part of a much broader environment of hope, change, and impact.

You can see our vision, mission, values, and principles on our "who we are" page. Three pillars guide how we enact all these, and you can see them in detail on our "what we do" page.

These are our foundations. The specific activities we tackle, as a result, are on our "events" page. Acknowledging that we are just one contributor amongst many, our impacts are described, below.

1

Awareness

ln this pillar, we help the community partners, and volunteers to understand the complex context and situation of Ukrainians, both here and in Ukraine.

What does this look like?

Local people are engaged on special days (e.g., Canada Day) and with cultural events, meeting each other and learning together. Their awareness and understanding is increased—of Russia's barbaric war against Ukraine the global-to-local impacts.

3

Rebuilding

In this pillar, we work with a broad range of partners to support humanitarian needs and rebuilding.

What does this look like?

Collaboration with the private sector, academic, and faith communities to support long-term trauma and physical recovery, and infrastructure and agricultural rebuilding in Ukraine.

2

Settlement

Through this pillar, we support local, displaced Ukrainians in their intermediate settlement needs.

What does this look like?

Community members and organizations are connected with Ukrainian newcomers and provide support for language learning, job seeking, navigating government procedures, and psycho-social needs. This includes faith communities, local businesses, services providers such as libraries and public parks, and many individuals of good will.
