When Russia invaded Ukraine, Ukrainians began to flee, and Canada began to welcome Ukrainians, Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel were issued. These authorizations had a time limit—a limit that was likely based on the fact that nobody envisioned that three years later the war would still be continuing.
But it continues.
Newcomer Ukrainians who have settled in Canada are now facing the possibility of having their authorizations expire. This was never the intention of Canadians opening their communities and hearts to Ukrainians .
